The KIIS summer program in Argentina provides students with an opportunity to explore the landscapes and culture of one of the largest and most diverse Spanish-speaking countries in the world. A land of contrasts from the Andes mountains to the bustling port city of Buenos Aires, Argentina embodies the richness of both South American and European cultures.
Most of the program takes place in Buenos Aires, a fascinating urban landscape with famous streets, cafes, architecture, cuisine, music and dance. Group excursions include visits to theaters, museums, outdoor markets, historic mansions, national monuments, parks and plazas,
government ministries, and soccer stadiums.
All courses are designed to make Argentina the focus of discussion through hands-on learning opportunities. We also benefit from a number of guest lectures by local Argentine experts, including the opportunity to discuss and debate contemporary issues with Argentine students. No Spanish required.
Students enjoy free weekends further to explore the country and travel independently to other regions in Argentina (popular destinations include Bariloche, Iguazu, Salta, and the pampas). Students reside in comfortable hotels (2-4 per room) with private bathrooms and WiFi. The program concludes with a delicious group dinner.
ECON 410/PS 460 Topics: Development of Argentina from the Early 20th Century to Present
ECON 410 Topics: Steak, Wine & Soybeans: Economics of Agriculture, Trade & Environment

The KIIS Argentina program is based in beautiful Buenos Aires. For four weeks, students stay in double, triple, or quadruple occupancy apartment-hotel rooms in a centrally-located neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The apart-hotel is situated on a quiet street near bustling Avenida Santa Fe, a lively avenue lined with shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, delicious ice cream, movie theaters, and more. Shared rooms are equipped with individual beds, a private bathroom, a workspace, and cable television.
Affordable laundry facilities (e.g. drop off your clothes in the morning and pick them up washed & folded in the afternoon) and a grocery store are nearby. The subway is located a few blocks away making it easy to get around Buenos Aires (a metro pass with many trips is included in the cost of the program). The apart-hotel's excellent location also makes walking (a great way to explore Buenos Aires) a pleasure.
