About the University
Saint-Etienne has a small student population, therefore, the campus really does offer students a strong sense of community and intimacy. Now a part of the EM Lyon network of higher education institutions, the Saint-Etienne campus offers students many opportunities for unique exposure and experience in the business field. The EM Lyon business school is ranked #2 in France by Times Higher Education. Saint-Etienne also serves as a great place to improve French language skills and immerse yourself in a French culture. The Saint-Etienne campus features modern facilities equipped with all the things you will need to be successful during your time there. The Bureau des Etudiants (BD) is the main student union responsible for organizing extracurricular activities. Students can join sports teams, go skiing in the Alps or spend a day at one of France’s nearby beaches. The Young Ambassadors program is a student program designed to help exchange students acclimate to life in France. Saint-Etienne is located just 10 minutes from the city centre and just a short train ride away from Lyon.
With a population of over 170,000 within the city limits and over 300,000 within the municipality, Saint Etienne has a lot to offer its visitors. Affectionately known as a student town, the city is home to museums, coffee shops, specialty markets, and much more. Additionally, Saint-Etienne hosts many local and international festivals annually to showcase various cultures and traditions. The bus and tram system makes getting around quick and easy. Saint Etienne is also very close to Lyon, the third largest city in France, and is accessible to other popular destinations in Europe.
