About the Program

LdM’s Academic Semester and Academic Year Programs give students the flexibility to select and combine classes from three academic areas:

School of Italian Language and Culture
School of Arts & Sciences
School of Creative Arts

Academic Semester and Academic Year Programs are available to internationally qualified students. These study abroad experiences allow undergraduate and independent students to gain a deeper understanding of Italian culture and language.

Academic Year students may also decide to experience two different Italian regions and cultures, studying at one LdM campus for the fall semester and in another for the spring semester.

Programs vary in the weight given to Italian language, and allow students to choose how much time they wish to spend developing their language skills. Students are required to take at least one Italian language course during their first semester at LdM. Beyond the mandatory Italian language component, students choose between a selection of courses taught in English, satisfying personal preferences and the requirements of their degree programs.

All courses, except Italian language courses, are taught in English. Attendance is mandatory.

LdM Rome Academic Highlights

LdM Rome students can choose courses in subjects such as history and classical civilizations, art and literature, international business, political science, film studies, philosophy and religion, and Italian language. Rome's economic and political heart focuses largely on the exciting worlds of international relations and business, media and communications, and art and fashion. This gives LdM students the opportunity to experience up close the unique charm of modern lifestyle in a millenary capital city.

Rome

About Rome

With its unparalleled history, Rome, the Eternal City and Italy's capital, functions as both an ancient and modern global center. The city fuses the feel of a large metropolis with small lively neighborhoods and picturesque districts dotted with hills, piazzas, fountains, cobblestone streets and churches. The unique history and resources of Italy’s capital make it a meaningful city in which to study both ancient cultures and contemporary political and international issues. Rome has captivated pilgrims and tourists for centuries, and students will immediately find inspiration in the city's parks, evocative ruins and Renaissance and Baroque palaces.
