Through coursework in a range of subjects and hands-on exploration through excursions, and cultural events, you’ll gain critical insight into contemporary Cape Town.

cape-town-landscapeYou will be able to witness and take part in the complex process of transformation occurring in South Africa. During courses, community engagement activities, excursions, and more, you’ll trace the impact of colonialism on the indigenous peoples; examine the emergence and significance of apartheid; and explore the role this fascinating country’s history continues to have on society today. You have the possibility to acquire a greater understanding of issues around several topics in contemporary South Africa including economics, health, politics, the environment, etc., and how these issues inform the discourse on poverty and development and their relationship to globalization. Experience the local language and develop and use specific Afrikaans or isiXhosa vocabulary.
