Announcement: WKU Travel Policy

Information about WKU's Student Travel Policy and how it relates to the U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories and your approval to travel on your intended program.
WKU Student Travel Policy is based on U.S. Department of State (USDOS) Travel Advisories. Travel to locations with a Level 1, "Exercise Normal Precautions," or Level 2, "Exercise Increased Caution," Travel Advisory is allowed. Travel to locations with a Level 3 Travel Advisory, "Reconsider Travel," is restricted and an appeal will be required before an approval to travel decision can be made. Locations with a Level 4, "Do Not Travel," Advisory are prohibited. Appeals will not be considered for Level 4 locations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many locations are at a Level 3 or Level 4 Advisory. We highly recommend that you check the advisory of your intended program's location here. In general, WKU Global Learning & International Affairs, in conjunction with the Provost's Office, will make approval to travel decisions approximately 1 month prior to travel departure dates, based on the Travel Advisory on the decision date. Any approval granted is provisional, meaning that it can be rescinded at any time if warranted by the health and/or security situation in your intended program location(s).

Please reach out to your study abroad advisor or to study.abroad@wku.edu with any questions on the travel policy.
